325. sonya's garden
It was December 14 of last year when I first stepped at Sonya's Garden, Tagaytay City. Had it not been for my boss' aunt (who went in Manila for a conference), I wouldn't have go there.
Quoting the first paragraph from its official site:
Time was when rumors of a secret garden tucked in the gentle rolling
hills of Tagaytay inevitably sneaked into conversations of Manila’s
inner circle on what is new and exotic. Stories were told in awe and
delight about a flower garden planted in “organized chaos” yet
soothingly pleasing to the eye, as if choreographed with artistic
perfection. And then there is the simple yet incredibly filling country
cuisine with fresh and organically grown ingredients from the garden,
served in fine tableware that complements the idyllic setting. Then
there is Sonya herself with her memories of growing up in her
grandmother’s country garden in the Philippines, her life as an expat
in Europe and the US, and her dreams of carving out a place in the
country where she can live her philosophy on “the art of doing nothing”.

We stayed there for less than an hour, but it's enough to say that Sonya's a 'grandiose' place for someone seeking serenity. I like how the whole environment "screams" peace. As soon as you park your vehicle, you can hear the gates enticing you to stay. The scent of freshly baked bread and pastries lure you to taste & savor each delightful piece. The garden is so enchanting, you'll want to stay for hours.
And did I mention there's a spa and bed & breakfast? Oh, that & their fruits + veggies are organic?! Sigh.
I've heard of Sonya's Garden a hundred times or so & many eons ago, but never had the time nor the opportunity to visit the site. To add, I was not sure how to get there. I wouldn't have known the way there if not for my team member, who served as a driver to Pula, our red Toyota (yes, we do have a name for our car!) I'm glad I do now though.
Finally, a not so far nor close getaway from the city. :-)
