It was tiring. But I have to say the fulfillment of capturing nice images was worth the sweat!!!
The weather was very cooperative: clear skies & sunshine!
We walked to and fro Makati. Second destination was Greenbelt, then....
...down to ...
Guess where I was?!
Here's something to someone who just might be missing his side of the town!
You can thank me later. Haha!
We had our share of adventures and MISadventures, my friends & I.
MISadventures starting with THREE encounters of security guards asking us for permits. Yes, this is a country wherein every photo shoot requires permit --- may it be a park, a garden or a public street/ avenue. (I remember I used to take photos from another country, and no one would actually care if I photo-shoot in every corner of the place.)
Oh well, we were glad and thankful there wasn't any use of violence nor harsh words. Kudos to Makati security guards for being polite sans our "mischief" of not having permits. We'll try to secure one next time!!! :-)
Then, there are the adventures --- photo shoot in the middle of a busy street (we have to make sure stop sign is flashing --- before we run back to the middle of the street to take pictures!), had our "tagged-along" friend serve as an instant model, saw Brazilian male models having coffee (sight to behold!), and a father-daughter tandem who allowed us to take pictures of them.
During our photo walk, we also met a Russian guy named "Alexi". He works in Manila and has been staying a little over a month. A friendly guy, that Russian. My friends and I invited him to join us should he decided to buy his own digital SLR. We kid around to teach each other's language, since their language interests me and vice-versa.
It was fun meeting people during photo walks. It was fun to experience new things!
My friend took this photo of the moon. I love the moon!
I need to be sleeping now since I have to wake up early later. I plan to go to work at least three hours earlier to work on a project due Friday. A lot of catching up to do... but considering how I slacked off watching a chick-flick known as "Sex and the City", I burnt two hours off my production time for the weekend.
So the "early bird" plan is not happening anymore.
To compensate for my slacking off, I decided to do self-portrait --- which I haven't done for quite a while. :-) Originally, I planned posting some of my shots from my previous assignment in photography class; but when I saw the tripod, my baby Quiane and my newly purchased dress/ top, I opted for the latter.
*drumroll please* Fellas, bear with my self-documentation sort of images. I intend to look back at these photos couple weeks, months or years from now. It all depends on whether I'm in a self-appreciation or self-criticizing mood. :-)
Gros bisous,
Jhenny
Stalling. Now I state my reason: I MISS DRAWING. Most of my subjects are women (their figures are more contour than men!), clothes, sceneries, objects, among many other whatnots. Sure I doodle sometimes, but I miss having a sketchpad to hold on to, to look back years from now and to realize how ugly my works are. Kidding. I like some, I hate some --- like any other artist feels. I like to show my artworks to others & let them criticize my works... but not all the time. It depends if they catch me in a good mood.
My main weapon of choice is the pencil.I like playing with the lightness/ heaviness of its strokes, alongside the shading effect it gives. There are still a lot more artsy jargons I can drop here; but I don't wanna bore you. Forgive me. My enthusiasm gets the best of me!
Back inside the store. I realized that there's more to it than pencil: watercolor, acrylic, indian ink, charcoal, pastel, etc. The possibility seems endless! So I decided to try on a new weapon: CHARCOAL. I've used one way back in college, but not enough for me to truly appreciate its worth. I don't know what'll come out of it, but I'm excited to find out!
Enough art for now. I give you the mask.MASKS, actually. I bought two masks that caught my attention while shopping: one is canvass, the other one is glittery-glam. I don't know where I would use these masks; yet somehow, their uniqueness have drawn me to consumption.
Now, now. If only there's a masquerade party I'd get invited to. Lol.

Back to the storm. Sigh. I hope it'll forget to include Manila on its hit-list. Or the whole country for that matter.
Or any other country.
Miracles DO happen. Being an employee of an American company, enjoying local public holidays is not much of an option... until NOW. Surprisingly, we have our off today (Philippines' National Heroes Day) which just made my weekend quite "eventful".
Eventful in terms of spending time with friends I've lost in touch with or haven't seen for sooo long, aside from obvious reasons of spending time w/ my nieces, brother and sister-in-law. A couple of "cons" do come in mind though: I still haven't done my laundry, my room has become a mess (thanks to Saturday's sleepover, which is fun!), my less than 8 hours of sleep/ day doesn't satisfy... and I haven't had enough "me time". I think.
Or did I? Hah. I guess I DO need a vacation.

EDIT: Here's more.
Searching for something.
Locate me.
Did someone call?
I planned to go to the mall this afternoon, but thanks to non-stop rain, streets are flooded. I'm stuck at home. Another day is added to my overdue electric bill, I wasn't able to buy home stuff in the hardware store and involuntarily deprived myself from indulging a meal at McDonald's.
Seriously, the "when it rains, it pours" statement don't apply in our area --- because when it rains the whole day, expect a river to form around the hood. A yacht is definitely a must-buy, only if I have money to burn.
Sorry if my hair was a mess. It was couple of minutes right after a long bath (I general-cleaned my room!)
Etc. Etc. Etc.
Bummer.
On our way home from work, my colleague surprisingly told me how she envied my style. At my age (so she said and I must emphasize), I hardly look like I'm in my late 20s. That... and that she could pass up as my mother.
Personally, I divulge on that certain 'something'... whatever IT really is... which 'apparently' reflects something good.
Or maybe on a serious note, tracing down the subconscious, another reason could be my "half-full" view in life. I'm an optimist, obviously and that, my friends, probably does help. I can't exactly guarantee; but truth be told, it does feel like one of those explanations beneath it all.
Heart of the matter: whatever helps me look or feel young, I'm just happy to be. Because sooner or later, age will reflect in my physicality. I may no longer be fit to dress rugged and yes, I realize the need to act (and dress) my age. Yet for the time being, I'm just going to enjoy N-O-W. You see, I like that I can still get away with my 'extra' youth factor!
In my younger 20s, I was fretting about reaching 27. HAH. Now that I'm 27, quite frankly, I don't seem to care at all. I found acceptance that life goes way beyond all these things.
What do you know?!
Wisdom does come along with age-ing.

*I'm about 5'1" tall. Or short. You decide.
Never mind that I look "too" happy there. Lol. Maybe I am!
'Met my friends for an afternoon flick of Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince. The movie was blah, but I guess for most Potter fanatics, they'd probably say "GREAT!". Sorry to disappoint, but I very much prefer light reading such as *hint-hint* Twilight Saga, thank you very much. Haha!
I wouldn't even start comparing Rowling's masterpiece with Meyer's as they are totally separate. Obviously, many would rant if I do. So yep, I'd shut my mouth and stop right there.
I guess this is where the saying "Different strokes for different folks" come in. :-)
The main highlight, really now, is spending time with friends. I haven't seen them for a month and obviously, there's a certain looking forward to actually be with them. Just this afternoon, I casually told my friend that it amuses me how we managed to keep the friendship alive for more than ten years! Amazing! We've been classmates since high school, but the friendship transcended in college wherein most of us got into Business Major (sure, I'm a Graphic Designer now, what can I say?! C'est la vie!).
Of course after blurting out that sentiment, we reverted to our obligatory "retail" therapy, Rockefeller dinner* & after-dinner coffee at 6750. A little surprise happened though: most of us got starstruck. A reunion of Gimik cast happened at Marciano's, just beside Rockefeller in Greenbelt 3. News has it that Marvin Agustin is a parttime owner of the bistro, which is the reason why the all-star cast decided to dine there.
Seeing them gave us the LOLs and a reason to reminisce high school memoirs. They were a part of our highschool pop culture, you see. Ahhh...good times!
P.S. By the way, the only person that got me starstruck was Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, f'realz.
She is STUNNING.
*Dinner constitutes of the usual Rockefeller menu: Baked White Fish, Bourbon Baby Back Ribs, Vegetable Rice, Calamares & Red Wine. YUM!

Next in line:
A visual self-document which I'd probably look back when I get a tad older and wiser :-)
Bought this at Wisdom, Podium. I decided to add purple in my closet. It's high time to introduce something "nouveau", don't you think?
...and to all a good night.
XOXO,
