I love the details of "her" costume! She was wearing a black-dyed top adorned with colorful sequins and beads. She also has a headgear, which I failed to capture. I was distracted with her vibrant accessories.
Ahhh..busy, busy week. I never though I'd say this but weekends are lately filled up with activities. Sigh.
I miss a good day's sleep.
It was tiring. But I have to say the fulfillment of capturing nice images was worth the sweat!!!
The weather was very cooperative: clear skies & sunshine!
We walked to and fro Makati. Second destination was Greenbelt, then....
...down to ...
Guess where I was?!
Here's something to someone who just might be missing his side of the town!
You can thank me later. Haha!
We had our share of adventures and MISadventures, my friends & I.
MISadventures starting with THREE encounters of security guards asking us for permits. Yes, this is a country wherein every photo shoot requires permit --- may it be a park, a garden or a public street/ avenue. (I remember I used to take photos from another country, and no one would actually care if I photo-shoot in every corner of the place.)
Oh well, we were glad and thankful there wasn't any use of violence nor harsh words. Kudos to Makati security guards for being polite sans our "mischief" of not having permits. We'll try to secure one next time!!! :-)
Then, there are the adventures --- photo shoot in the middle of a busy street (we have to make sure stop sign is flashing --- before we run back to the middle of the street to take pictures!), had our "tagged-along" friend serve as an instant model, saw Brazilian male models having coffee (sight to behold!), and a father-daughter tandem who allowed us to take pictures of them.
During our photo walk, we also met a Russian guy named "Alexi". He works in Manila and has been staying a little over a month. A friendly guy, that Russian. My friends and I invited him to join us should he decided to buy his own digital SLR. We kid around to teach each other's language, since their language interests me and vice-versa.
It was fun meeting people during photo walks. It was fun to experience new things!
My friend took this photo of the moon. I love the moon!
Basic photography, so far, is fun. The environment provided by FPPF is great: I'm surrounded by fellow photo enthusiasts... not to mention cool professors! :-)
I need to be sleeping now since I have to wake up early later. I plan to go to work at least three hours earlier to work on a project due Friday. A lot of catching up to do... but considering how I slacked off watching a chick-flick known as "Sex and the City", I burnt two hours off my production time for the weekend.
So the "early bird" plan is not happening anymore.
To compensate for my slacking off, I decided to do self-portrait --- which I haven't done for quite a while. :-) Originally, I planned posting some of my shots from my previous assignment in photography class; but when I saw the tripod, my baby Quiane and my newly purchased dress/ top, I opted for the latter.
*drumroll please* Fellas, bear with my self-documentation sort of images. I intend to look back at these photos couple weeks, months or years from now. It all depends on whether I'm in a self-appreciation or self-criticizing mood. :-)
Gros bisous,
Jhenny
I never thought I'd say this but as it seems, I'm liking a full schedule over the weekend. Tiring, sure. But at the end of the day, everything seems fulfilling. My class has only five sessions; I started last week. It runs every Sunday, WHOLE day, so imagine how exhausting it is. And exciting too!
So pardon if I'm posting boring stuff lately. I got lots of things to post, catch up to, and even share. Oh the priorities!
One more: how exciting is it that someone is asking me for my rate on post-nup?! Man, I'm getting stereotyped with weddings --- graphic designs and photography! Not that I'm complaining though.
I'm just glad!
Signing off for now.
I've always been a city girl. Always.
But after my second visit in Australia (Queensland's the BEST!), I've learned to appreciate nature. I never thought how getting one (yes! you heard me!) with nature can be breathtaking-- literally & emotionally, plus rewarding.
After seeing this architecture on TV, I now consider putting this in my
"must-go-to" places.... in summer. Thus, I hike. I'm not sure I could ever be fit for
winter season, so skiing is something I'd stay off for a while :-)
I was drawn by Monte Rosa's asymmetric structure, and the fact that its 90% self-sufficient energy.

The New Monte Rosa Hut is a joint project of ETH Zurich, SAC, Lucerne University and EMPA. The project shows exemplary architectural character in the field of energy and resource efficiency.
The following information is from ETH Zurich:
‘Studio Monte Rosa is a special mountain hut, which has been planned
for the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) by the Department of Architecture.
The project covers from the conception to the final execution all the
phases and technological blocks needed for the realization of this
unique building.
In fact, the new Studio Monte Rosa is in the middle of a natural reserve with extreme alpine conditions, yet energetically to 90% self-contained and self-sufficient (90% autarchy).
In splendid isolation, on the edge of a glacier in pristine wilderness,
the hut will be able to host 125 guests in the restaurant and hotel
with very little environmental impact. The four floors will be realized
in a wooden pre-fabricated structure. The realization of bio-gas
generation for human waste recycling is also being considered.’
